Rail pass users must hold passports issued by a foreign government A rail pass user must be entering Japan as a "Temporary Visitor†*"Temporary Visitor" is a status of residence defined under Japanese immigration law. If you need to use a reserved seat, (GREEN car) First-class car, or a LINER train, you will need to pay additionally. Only foreigners who are eligible to visit Japan for a "short stay" can use this pass. Please inform the staff of the start date of use when redeeming, and use it within 3 days. You can’t use it after the expiration date and cannot change the validity period. After you start using this pass, the validity period of the pass will not be extended due to the train suspension, delay, etc. The type of ticket cannot be changed. If it gets lost or stolen, it will not be reissued. Due to weather conditions, the train may be delayed or stopped. Please understand.
